An Air Preheater (APH) is a specialized heat recovery system designed to enhance boiler efficiency by capturing thermal energy from the exhaust flue gases and transferring it to the primary combustion air. By elevating the temperature of the incoming air, the system ensures the thermal stability of the combustion chamber and minimizes energy waste by redirecting heat—otherwise lost through the stack—back into the combustion process.
This preheating mechanism prevents the cooling of the combustion zone that typically occurs with ambient air intake. Consequently, it facilitates a higher furnace temperature, leading to optimized combustion efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and significant overall energy savings.
