The Deaerator Tank is a critical component designed to extract dissolved oxygen ($O_2$), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), and other non-condensable gases from the steam boiler feed water to prevent corrosive damage.Failure to adequately purify the feed water of these gases significantly reduces the operational lifespan of the entire thermal plant. Even over short durations, the presence of these gases can lead to severe degradation of the boiler and its auxiliary equipment. Specifically, $CO_2$ facilitates carbonic acid corrosion, which is particularly destructive to steam-consuming devices, heating coils, and condensate return piping. Simultaneously, dissolved oxygen is the primary cause of pitting corrosion, which creates localized holes in metal surfaces. To ensure system longevity, it is highly recommended to degas the boiler feed water by passing it through a dedicated deaerator. For optimal performance, the system must utilize both direct and indirect heating methods to maintain a constant temperature between 102–105°C at a controlled pressure of 0.2–0.5 barG.
